Elementary - A2 level

Description

In this lesson students will get to practice vocabulary introduced earlier in the class on regular activities and times by using the present simple. Students will get to develop interactive speaking skills while practicing the present simple. This will be achieved first by getting students to fill out a survey about their peers and then report 'how many people in the class...' have a certain feature as per the survey they've finished. Another activity will take place, where students will be given HO to fill in the missing information by working in pairs. If time allows we'll get to do a back-to-the-board game.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide speaking practice and fluency of regular activity phrases and words, such as: get up, go to bed, go to work, study, etc. Students will get to practice group and pair conversations of the target language.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of the present simple by using the target language.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

A survey will be given to the class. It will be explained to the students that they need to go around the class and interview 5 people. Before the survey will be given, the difference between 'in the week' and 'on the weekend' will be explained. After they're finished they'll need to sit down and wait for everyone to finish.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To provide reinforcement for the target language through a text or situation

After everyone is finished with the survey, the FB activity will begin. Another HO will be given to students where they're asked to give number of people and time of those who do the same activity at the same time.

Feedback (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students will report on the number of people who do the same thing at the same time.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

We'll begin with another activity, this time students will be divided into pairs and have to find the needed information by having two different HOs.

Feedback (5-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Will nominate three different pairs to come up in front of the class and report on the couples' habits they discovered in the activity.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

To recap daily routine vocabulary / regular activity vocab we'll do a 'back to the board' game.
