Main Aims

  • That SS read the provided text, practice their reading and understanding it in order to be able to answer the questions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide needed vocabulary and practice speaking

Procedure

Ice breaking (3-5 minutes) • To get to know the students

prepare name tents for the ss to write their names ( have one for the teacher) 'Get in line!' the three questions: 1. What's your name? 2. When is your birthday? 3.Who's you favorite celebrity?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask if any of the students have heard of Jamie Oliver before. exercise 3 (a)+(b) exercise 4 (a)

While-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

silent reading for 5 minutes Vocabulary from the text: Celebrity: someone who is famous, especially in the entertainment business. Famous: known and recognized by many people. Chef: a skilled and trained cook who works in a hotel or restaurant, especially the most important cook. While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

- Depending on number of students, they will read out loud (each a paragraph if we have 4 students, if more each can read 3 lines. in groups answer exercise 4 (a) and 4 (b)

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Answer question 5 (a) to check if they understood the text and know what it is talking about.
