Main Aims

  • To provide practice and clarification of Present simple - Present continuous in the context of Your world

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of of the base form " I have a brother; - ing form " I'm playing with my brother" in the context of Your world


Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To let SS be familiar with the contaxt of the lesson

Presenting several pictures related to people and trying to guess the relationship between them.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • Use Audio to provide correct answers for their guesses

Play an audio to check the predictions and receive correct answer. Finding mistakes in the next exercise by listening again to the audio and correct them.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • Dragging the attention to the related tenses by highlighting the differences of their form.

SS will underline Present simple verbs and circle the Present continuous verbs in the previous exercise. SS will find a match in the previous exercise to connect with (habits, actions happening now)

Clarification (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the form of Present simple - Present continuous and their different uses.

Grammar instruction and form will be written for both tenses assisted by some examples. Clarifying the suitable and correct usage for the two tenses in a daily speech. ( habits, facts, now, around now)

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

SS will do 2 exercises, 1- choosing the correct answer ( present simple or continuous) 2- completing the questions with the correct Tense.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students will practice the questions they made by asking them to each other ( do you read daily newspaper? are you reading at the moment?) SS will rephrase sentences according to their true opinion ( the weather is getting hotter. I am gaining weight)
