Description

in this lesson students learn about the usage of for and since in present perfect tense. As I was informed, the students have an idea over this material I am going to use PPP method and keep the clarification part short to have more STT rather than TTT.

Materials

Abc Power Point Aid
Abc Controlled and Semi controlled exercise papers

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of For and Since

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a role play

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Pictures on the first slide of the Power point aid will be shown. Elicitation will happen. Students will have time to speak about their last weekend.

Exposure and Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To provide example sentences.

We will move on to the next slide on the power point aid. Sentences will be presented and highlighted information will be emphasized. This questions will be asked: What is the difference between these two sentences?

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Time Table will be presented. Information will be given up on the time table. These questions will be asked. Have I started Playing Basketball 3 years ago? (yes) Do I play Basketball now? (yes) Will I play basket ball in the future? (Maybe) Does for show when I started Playing basketball? (NO) Does for Show the duration? (yes) Does since show the Starting time? (yes) Pronunciation Practice will be taken into consideration. Back drilling will happen. Formation will be presented.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Next Slide will be shown. Students will be grouped in two main groups. ICQs will be asked. Are we going to work in groups? (yes) Are we going to attach each paper in the correct place? (yes) They will attach the correct answers for each group in power point exercise.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

each group gets to correct the other groups mistake. We will cover the answers as WC.

Free Practice (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will be asked to use the papers on the board to speak about the things they have done so far and they are still doing. An example will be presented: I have started learning English in WSE Since 2015 Groups will be changed and again the same question is asked.
