in this lesson students will be reading a reading and they will get familiar with some vocabularies meanings, too. We will be discussing all of these under the context of social networking.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about social e-mailing in the context of social networks

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency in speaking practicing the Answers of the questions in part 1 are going to be discussed for fluency in the context of Social networks


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

the picture will be showed to the students; the words "Social media" will be presented; following questions will be asked: 1. What are these? 2. Which ones do u use? 3. Do u think they are good?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

three beginning readings on top of the page will be presented; students will have time to speak about them in pairs with the questions on part 1; Power point will be used and the student's will have time to speak with their pairs;

While-Reading/Listening #1 (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

the student's will be directed to answer questions in part 2 in 1 minute; they will have time to work in pairs about the answers for the questions in part 2; the answers: 1. they worked together 2. 6 years ago 3. Kuala Lumpur they will have time to read the e-mails now; they will be asked to read the readings and answer part 3

While-Reading/Listening #2 (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

they will be asked to read the e-mails again write down what do they have in common? possible answers are: 1. they both moved back to their home country 2. they both worked for GIG in Francisco 3. they are both single 4. they live near their families 5. they are both managers students will have time to speak about this in their groups,

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

second page of the power point will be shown; they will have time to work individually to work on their answers; they will be grouped and they will be asked to work on the questions in their groups.

FeedBack (2-3 minutes) • to solve their severe problems in speaking.

they will be monitored carefully; and some notes will be taken; the mistakes will be written on the board; they will be asked to correct them.
