Main Aims

To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about concluding a meeting in the context of a business environment.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide process and product writing practice of a summarising action points in the context of minutes of a meeting.
Procedure (75 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Elicit from students the stages of a meeting.
Pre-Listening (10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
Discuss what students might hear in a meeting being concluded
Listening #1 (15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
Remind students re. Unit 3 discussion concerning upgrading / refurbishing bank outlets. Play Track 22 several times, eventually asking groups of students to raise their hands after each point in Q2.
While-Listening #2 (25 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks
After listening again, pairs to complete Unit 12, Pg 61 Q3-5. WC to confirm answers.
Post-Listening / Writing assessment (20 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
Ask students to complete Unit 12, Pg 61 as a writing assessment on a separate sheet of paper for marking.
