Description

In this lesson, students will discuss their families, learn family member vocabulary as well as learn about Subject Pronouns and Possessive adjectives. They will listen to a woman talking about her family, then they will do some exercises and lastly they will talk about their families.

Procedure

Lead in (7-8 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students.

Learners will be asked "what is family" and write examples on WB. Then T will draw her family tree to introduce other family vocabulary e.g. My mom, Halina, is my son's grandmother. She is married to my father, who is my son's grandfather.

Stage 1 (4-5 minutes) • Pre Listening/Reading

T will show photo of a family from p. 25 of Face2Face Students book CUP via projector and learners will listen to a Cd 60 and will be asked to fill in the blanks. Then students will compare their answers and say them out loud.

Gist Listening (4-5 minutes) • Predict context with listening

T will model a question. What is my job? Your are a teacher. How old is my son? MY son is ...Studnets will then listen to Cd 61 from Face2Face. And will be ICQed. Then learners will be asked to compare answers with group.

Grammar learning (8-10 minutes) • to introduce Subject Pronouns and Possessive Adjectives

T will write Subject Pronouns and Possessive Adjectives on the WB and model a few examples. T will ask students to name verbs, nouns, subject pronouns and possessive adjectives. Then learners will be asked to provide 4 sentences (2 each) and compare them with partners.

Grammar practice (4-6 minutes) • to practice the new grammar concepts

T will write sentences on the WB and students will choose correct answers.

Practice grammar & vocabulary (10-12 minutes) • to drill the new learned grammar & vocabulary

T will give out a Family Tree HO do learners and will ask them to talk about their families in groups. T will write some model questions and answers on the WB. Then the students will be asked to talk about their families out loud.
