Description

In this lesson, students will learn, review and practice the names of common objects, introduce and practice a\an and singular\plural nouns in the context of everyday objects. They will have two listening practices.

Main Aims

  • Practise listening for gist and details.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Review and practise the names of common objects and to introduce and practice a/an.

Procedure

Warmer (4-5 minutes) • to warm up the students, do a simple review of words/sentences the students already know

Practice simple words the students already know: "hi my name is Anna I'm great and how are you?" Find someone who has a black bag, find someone who..."

Pre-Reading/Listening (3-5 minutes) • Introduce the context of the listening - what people carry in their bags to create interest.

T will show Ss what's in her bag. There will be a phone, money, pen, notebook. T and Ss will repeat and practice the words.

Pre teaching vocabulary and listening (7-8 minutes) • To practice the vocabulary

T will distribute HO 1 page 10 ex 6a from the face2face book and ask the students to work in pairs to solve it. The teacher will help out. After that the T will introduce the 6b listening part.

Paired exercises p.11 (7-8 minutes) • use the a/an and words

T and Ss will work on page 2 of HO 1 and Twill carefully explain the procedures. Ss will work in pairs and will be monitored by the T.

Matching words (6-7 minutes) • Match the words to pictures in the Face2face book.

T will give out HO 2 to the Ss and explain the procedures. Class will work together in the a exercise, have a listening part in b and work in pairs in c. Then will work on ex. 3

Listening p13 ex 8-9 (9-13 minutes) • For Ss to listen and practice vocabulary.

T will distribute HO 3 and complete exercises 8 and 9 on p. 13.
