In this lesson, Ss listen to a man and a woman talking about the professional motorbike racer, Valentino Rossi, and the things he does on a typical day.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson learners will have practiced listening skill in the context of people talking about the professional motorbike racer, Valentino Rossi, and the things he does on a typical day.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Ss talk about their own daily routines and lifestyles and through this context revise the form and use of the present simple and learn adverbs of frequency.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Put the students in pairs to talk about what they know about two or three of them . Encourage them to talk about what they think the sportsman or woman might do on a normal day when they are not competing.

Pre-Listening (2-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Put the students in pairs and tell them to look at the Rossi's picture and talk about what they know about him and ask them what is his job?

While-Listening #1 (1-2 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Tell the students to listen to the recording to check their answers and complete the fact life.

While-Listening #2 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Ask the students two questions in exercise 2 and after they've answered them in pairs,play the recording to check their answers.

While-Listening #3 (7-9 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Tell the students to read the questions in the exercise 3 and listen to write the questions answers. and then check with their partner and after that check with the teacher.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Put the students in pairs and ask them the two questions in exercise 4 .
