  • To provide clarification, review and practice of the present continuous tense and action verbs in the context of farm animals, humans and their actions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of what animals and humans do in their daily lives

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will introduce herself T will stick the LP on the board T will explain the maracas rule T will ask the students to watch the video and think about what they see "What are they doing in the video?" T elicits as much vocab as possible to assess prior learning T gets FB T does not correct ss at this point T praises

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

T starts miming words to elicit vocab ECDW & praise through CCQs T uses the grammar structure as much as possible

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T peers the ss T shows the cut outs and instructs ss to match them T uses ICQs T monitors as ss do peer work T asks ss to check their answers T gives the answers through WC FB

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to clarify the grammar focus

T asks ss to find the formula of the sentences T distributes the formula T lets ss to look at the sheet

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

T writes the following questions on the board: What is he/she/it doing? What are we/you/they doing? T asks ss to pair up T shows the handout and explains the rule T monitors closely T takes notes to clarify the misunderstood points T gives WC FB

Back up activity (0-0 minutes) • To further practice the grammar focus

Pictionary or charades depending on the time left and the energy lvl of the ss: T shows an example and explains the instruction Ss come to the board and try to guess the action verb in full sentences Before the lesson finishes, T recaps the lesson
