Procedure

warmer/review (45-50 minutes) • review the previous lesson

start with recall of names and adjectives (nick names) play tape 9 to see if they recognize the compound words (who is talking and what about) play tape 9 again, write the compound words that are used play tape 10 to check answers for the gap fill practice lines in exercise (gap fill) with sentence stress, with acting if possible

listening (45-50 minutes) • sentence stress

give SS HO and ask them to match a line from A with a line from B listen to tape 11 and check answers Practice with partner, try to change stress and tone of speech play tape 12 and listen with the purpose of (who are the people, do they know each other, and where are they going) unfold HO and listen again to see where the stress is in the sentence read the conversation aloud and use stress marks to put stress in the right place

post listening (45-50 minutes) • sentence stress

give SS last HO and ask them to finish the lines check with each other, check for different possibilities play tape 13 and check answers practice the lines with stress and intonation
