This lesson will give students an opportunity to practice the target language

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of language used for vocabulary related to hopes dreams and ambitions in the context of peoples ambitions for there future

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation, opinion expression in the context of speaking about dreams, hopes, and ambitions for the future

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Remind students about Daisuke's dream for the future, and ask them what do they think of his idea. Generate conversation based around this.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will listen to 3 people speak about there hopes and dreams and match the pictures with the numbers, peer check, whole class feedback.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

the chart for exercise 3 will be on the white board from the previous stage after students complete the listening have them come up to the White board and put the answers in the right place.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

use the chart from exercise 3 and post it on the white board and clarify the meaning and analyze it for form and do some pronunciation drilling with the students Use the target sentence One day I'd like to learn to swim and analyze it for stress and to introduce students to the schwa

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will listen and mark the stress on the syllables and place the schwa. give out the answer key and have students listen and follow along while reading the answer key, then do some drilling after the listening is complete.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students will write 3-5 sentences about their hopes, dreams, and ambitions

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will talk to their partner about there hopes dreams and ambitions. Then tell the class something interesting about what their partner wants to do for the future.
