Description

In this lesson student should use the simple present to describe, different places through answering reading questions and writing activities. Teacher will plan activities based on page 96 -97 of the student's book.

Main Aims

  • Use simple present tense for description : Places.

Subsidiary Aims

  • reading and writing production skills.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher to ask students about the weather. what is their favorite weather and then student look at pictures on page 96.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will listen to a recors and need to match pictures with the right situation. teacher will take the time to explain new words through elliciting and mimic

Highlighting (8-12 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students will read a text and try to match paragraphs with the right title. this activity will draw students attention to vocabulary used to describe a place ( In this context describe Liverpool city) This activity will be paving the way for the production activity at the end of the lesson.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Students to make sure all vocabulary of the text is clear. try to understand words from context and explain meaning using their own words

Semi - Controlled Practice (5-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will work in group to practice English and describe places through asking questions Students should have a place in agadir they like. give description and students should guess. Teacher will start by describing the place it likes ( SOuk Ahad) describe what she does there why she likes it and students will guess.

Free Practice (8-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Writing task page 96. Students will use the target language to describe their town ( 10 minutes) teacher will highlight the good use of English and correct common mistakes at the end of te lesson ( Last 5 minutes)
