Description

By the end of this lesson Ss will have practice their reading for gist and detailed comprehension. The lesson starts with slide related to the context.This is followed by pre -teaching vocabulary stage then reading tasks starting from earier (gist reading) and followed by more challenging (detailed reading) in the context of people's attidute to online shopping.Finally Ss will be promted to write if they like or don't like shopping online

  • To provide process writing practice in the context of Ss attitude to online shopping

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Project a slide with screen shots of aliexpress, ebay and trendyol to set the context and elicit what Ss know about online shopping. CCQ: What do i do on ebay? Do i need to go out? How do i pay? Do online shops close?

Pre-Reading (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and pre-teach vocabulary

Project visuals to pre-teach the words: convenient, store, spend time

While-Reading #1 (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

Read the article. Who likes to shop online? Who doesn't like to shop online? Check the correct boxes.

While-Reading #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed reading tasks

Read the article again. Then write Sarah, Matt, Kevin, or Susana next to the statements.

Post-Reading (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
