Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about method of communication in the context of keeping in touch

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of expressing opinion in the context of methods of communication

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Show the picture and elicit the methods of communication. -Ss work in pairs. They discuss about how do they keep in touch with their family and friends. -Take some FB,

Pre-Reading/Listening (6-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-Ss listen to two conversation and find out what methods do they talk about? -Break the record into two and pause after the first conversation Feedback -Get Ss to peer-check then elicit the answer.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (11-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-Before listening again give the instructions, then give Ss time to read through the T/F statements. -Ss discuss in pairs/small groups to see how much they remember --Ss will listen again and mark the sentences true or false. (break listening into two parts. Pause and give them time to peer-checking. Then play second part) Feedback: Peer-checking -Get students to come to board and write the answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-Put Ss in group three, Reflect the questions on the board -. Ss in group three discuss the questions. (Give an example before setting the activity.) -Monitor and entourage Ss to talk about the questions, Take error notes -Take some Feedback.

Providing the Vocabulary (6-7 minutes) • to provide clarification of new words and prepare Ss to Speaking task

-Show slide-7. Elicit the meaning of the highlighted expressions -Ss work in pairs and decide who says these sentences from the listening -Feedback -Peer-checking -write the answers on the board. *iF THERE IS TIME, GIVE HAND OUT-4 TO PRACTICE NEW VOCABULARY.

Providing and clarifying the Vocabulary (5-6 minutes) • to provide clarification of new vocabulary and prepare Ss to Speaking task

- Reflect the slide-8 Give the HO-3. Get Ss to focus on highlighted statements. -Students will work in pair and categorize the expressions. -Feedback: Peer-checking Write answers on the board

Freer Speaking Activity (6-8 minutes) • To Provide students practice speaking for fluency using new vocabulary from listening

- Put students in group three.Show slide-9 -Ss will work in group and give their opinion about these statements. -Monitor help Ss if it`s necessary. Take notes. -Take some feedbacks.
