To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice of numbers and figures.
To provide clarification and review of language used for talking about figures in the context of numeracy.
Procedure (35 minutes)
On WB, write down numbers, and ask students to say them out loud.
Ask students randomly about the number of hours they: eat, sleep, watch television, wait at red traffic lights, spend on cell phones - per day & per week & per month & per year. Write up on WB.
Write up 5 sentences on WB for class to read and discuss. Highlight Unit 9, Pg 49, Language Focus "0 is called ..." & use of "," as a seperator
Reverse speaking practice of figures into listening, and writing them down. Students to write down: a. 0.2% b. 300 million dollars c. 7, 965 d. 103,328 e. 53, 497 f. 251, 820 g. 3/4 percent h. 10,000 pounds sterling i. 5.2 j.10.0094 WC to check
