Description

In this lesson, students are going to be introduced to some vocabulary using the word THAT by discussing the context of some photos. Then, they will do the will do ex 1 in which they are going to answer the questions. After that, they will do the exercise 2 in which they practice "That" for things they see. Thereafter, they will do the exercise 3 in which they practice "That" replies by matching the right sentences with each other. Then, they will do the second part of the exercise in which they cover their answers and try to remember them. Finally, they will have a speaking exercise in which they will work in pairs trying to use all the previous vocabulary.

Main Aims

  • To get students to know some vocabulary using the tword THAT by looking at some pictures and discussing their context,

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students with speaking practices in the context of refering to things they see and responding to what someone said by using the word "That."

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To get students interested in the topic by showing them some pictures and try to make them guess what they are doing? and where are they?. After that, as a feedback, they will match each photo by its right answer.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In pairs, Students are going to do the exercise 2 in which they will practice using the word THAT for things the see, to demonstrate items in the picture provided in the exercise using specific expressions, such as: That's a .... I think that's a .... What's that? I don't know. For example by saying: That's a policeman. using

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In pairs, Students are going to do the exercise 3 in which they will practice using the word THAT to reply to people, by matching the sentences with their right answer.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In pairs, Students are going to cover the answers in the previous exercise, then, As will say the sentence and Bs will try to remember the answers.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students are going to work in pairs As will have their own sentences and the same thing for Bs. They will ask each other and take turns to read out their sentences.
