Description

In this lesson, students will revise and practice the present progressive using speaking in the context of conversation about 'what we're doing'.

Materials

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, learners will have a better understanding of present progressive and will have had practice using that language speaking about 'what we're doing'.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide speaking for fluency practice using conversation in the context of 'what we're doing'.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in the topic of 'what we're doing'.

Start PP Hand out money HO SS turn over HO In pairs SS to ask partners what they would do? 3-4 minutes FB > WC thoughts

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language of present progressives (now and future and question)

Next PP slide The people in these stories decided to go to London. Display Script practice HO Do WC read. SS to speak the dialogue in pairs > put SS into pairs...A & B ICQ: Who are the A's and who the B's? 5 minutes

Highlighting (10-12 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language with handout on present progressives (now, future and question) and clarify meaning of TL

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the form and pronunciation of the target language
