Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce Ss to a cartoon video clip that has 'first conditionals' used in order to grab their attention.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ss will get the instructions of HO ex (a) Ss will work in pairs Ss will get ex (a) HO A time limit will bet set Answer key will be hanging on the wall for FB

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Through PowerPoint, Ss are introduced to ex (b) A time limit will be set Ss will work out the answers in pairs Then, Ss will get ex (c) through PowerPoint A time limit will be set Ss will work out the answers in pairs Both questions' answer keys will be presented via PowerPoint

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ss gets HOs for (Zero and first conditionals) along with the instructions Ss will discuss the questions they have in pairs T monitors and checks Ss while discussing Answer key is displayed on PwoerPoint T checks if they all understood this piece of grammar Ss listen to audio 39, 40, and 41 and drill

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss get an HO of (ex b p.139) Ss will be divided into groups of 3-4 A time limit will be set Groups will check each other answers Answer key will be displayed through PowerPoint

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ss get HO of (ex e) A time limit will be set Ss will discuss the possible answers in groups An answer key will be displayed through PowerPoint
