Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

We will watch a video to It's A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong Students will suggest the four colors they heard in the song. (Green trees, blue skies, and white clouds, red roses)

Exposure to I like and I don't like (5-8 minutes) • To provide practice listening to speakers and repeating

* We will listen to the recording from the English Unlimited Pack 1.85 once. * Q: How many people are speaking? * Check with your neighbors. How many did they hear? * Q: There were four people, right? * Q: Who were the speakers on the tape? * Ss will be put into groups of 3 according to favorite colors. Red, blue, yellow * They will each be given an envelope of clothes and told to go to different tables. * A second time they will listen to the recording. * They will sort the clothes for Donna, Olga, and Ben. * If they want to play the recording again, I will let them play it again. * Each group will check the other groups. * Picture of the clothes will be shown and the text of the sound clip will be shared. * Practice Sheet of Olga, Donna, and Ben will be shared to reinforce these sentences. Work together on these.

Drilling of Like and Doesn't Like (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Productive Task(s) (5-7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss will fill out a worksheet to list their favorite colors, colors they don't like, clothes they like to wear, things they have, and things they don't have. These will be collected and so the teacher can see what errors may need correcting. Rationale: I am collecting their papers so they will have to practice speaking.

Extra Activity for Flying with the Fastest • Engage students who finish faster

As the students finish their likes and dislikes, they will give those to the teacher. They will receive another worksheet to create an adapted song of their favorites to It's a Wonderful World. The sheet will be shared with everyone at the end of the class.

Practice Speaking (10-10 minutes) • the sentences about like, have, and wear.

Instructions: You will share your answers with each other by mingling. Who knows what mingling is? Gesture and mime this action so they understand it. Where do people mingle? (Parties, restaurants, parks, and so on.) After they have mingled with each other, all will sit down. Teacher to share the sheets with a student--they draw them out and read them. The others will guess who each person is.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

While the students are mingling to share their likes, dislikes, haves and lacks, I will mark their papers as to correct or not. I will collect problem areas to remark on for the entire class. I will refer to the LA page to help any problem areas.

Final song (2-4 minutes) • For fun

Share the song sheet if they would like to write a song. I will sing mine as a final praise.
