Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of how to practice minimal conversation in a kiosk in the context of Things

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greeting the students at the beginning. The main aim in the warming up is to elicit the word ''kiosk'' from them, so starting the lead-in by showing some pictures of some shops on the OHP and get them to say the name of the shops such as café, shop, shopping mall and shoe shop. After that, ask them what do you think our lesson is about? The answer is shopping.

Pre teaching new vocabularies about shopping (10-12 minutes) • to elicit the vocabularies and drilling them in natural way

Ask the students to pay attention to the OHP and try to elicit the words from them for example: a pen, a bottle, a postcard, a stamp, a glass, a magazine, a sandwich, glasses, a watch, sunglasses , and a newspaper. During this stage, try to drill the words and make sure they can pronounce them accurately. They might face a problem about the word "sunglasses", so try to draw the students attention to the fact that sunglasses are plural. Not A sunglasses.

Listening for gist (3-5 minutes) • to learn the question" what sort of shop is it?"

In this stage, the students apply what they have learned before. a pen, a bottle, a postcard, cola , a glass, a magazine, glasses, a lemonade, sunglasses , and a newspaper, so they will listen to the audio and write what sort of shop is it ? In this task, the students listen to the audio individually for gist and then let them listen again to figure out the right answer which might be a bit easy for them.

Listening for detail: (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

There are two exercises. Ask the students to listen to the audio individually and tell them fill the blank with the correct answer. Make sure that they do it alone. Repeat the audio twice then if they need the second chance. Then, tell them to check their answers with their partner. Afterward, share their FB with the whole class. The second exercise is important for them because they need to use when they ask each other in the next stage.

speaking extension (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Based on what they have learned and listened to. Start the activity by asking a question" what do say if you want to buy something" they will say "do you sell ….." because they already studied it last activity. Divide them into PW and have them stand up. Then, give them card and let them ask each other without seeing the other card.
