Listening and speak about where people live and work
Review and practice of the morphology of regular verb present simple she - +S
Procedure (30-45 minutes)
I will introduce myself, say where I live and work and ask about their jobs.
1a I will hand out and project 1a on p.17 and give Ss some time to complete the sentences. W/C will check the answers. I will put them in pairs and get them to talk to each other about family member using the patterns they have learned. 1b I will hand out and project the chart on the board and W/C will discuss the difference between A and B. Then, I will project activity 3 on p.18 and give Ss some time to choose. W/C will check answers. 1c This will be a speaking activity where the Ss will be divided into six groups/pairs. They will write two sentences about their picture (A-F) using She is _________ / She works ___________ .
I will write up "Donna's Family" and get Ss to listen to recording 1.40 and take notes. I will repeat this twice. Then, I will project activity 1 on page 18 and give Ss some time to think about their answers. I might also ask Wh- questions about the members of Donna's Family. To check their answers, I will project the map on page 18.
First, I will project activity 2 on page 18, then I will elicit the sentence "I live in Istanbul" from a student and get Ss to say "He/she lives in Istanbul". I will put the Ss in pairs and get them to say to me I live in Istanbul. He/She lives in Istanbul.
I can do this by talking about someone I know or, if there is time, with activity 1 on page 20.
