Description

In this lesson students will learn about sentence rhythm and linking from a listening activity in the context of a very long flight. In this lesson Ss will listen to an audio to get an idea of the topic. I will pre-teach vocab. Then they will read the transcript and do a gapfill. İ will then teach the The present simple form of do and dont and useful verb phrases for vocabulary and get them to do a matching exercise. Then they will listen to another audio and circle the correct answers. Then i will get them to learn certain vocab and complete exercise then. İ wıill get them into pairs to ask each other questions and finally to create a roleplay in the plane.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Talk to the class about my long flight to Australia, how it went, what i ate on the plane and who did i meet on the plane. - Show a video of 2 people having a conversation on the plane

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

- First i will get the Ss to listen to the audio of two people having a conversation to get an idea about the context. - Then i will pre-teach vocabularies that will be in the text and audio. - Then i will get the students to gist read the dialogue for 1 minute.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

- Then i will get the Ss to listen to the audio again and put the sliced up script into order. - Then i will get them to read the script again and fill in the missing gaps with the correct vocabulary. - Then i will teach them grammar for present simple. Questions with Do , Yes, No. - Then they will prepare questions for their partner when on the plane. - Then i will give them a matching activity.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

- Then Ss will have another activity where they will Listen to the end of Eves Holiday. Then they will do the activity and circle the correct option. - Then they will prepare questions and ask their partner these questions. Then they will present their partners answers to the class.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- Lastly Ss will create a role play with their partner of them on a long flight somewhere. - They will then present it to the class.
