In this lesson Ss will learn comparison and comparative adjectives. They will read a text about that and then by guided discovery they will learn the grammar. Then they have a real life situation to produce this grammar.

Main Aims

Lead in (5-7 minutes) • to introduce the topic to Ss

T plays a video for Ss about buying used cars and gives them questions to answer about the video. They check the answers in pairs. T gives FB.

Pre- teach vocab (7-10 minutes) • to make them ready to understand the text

T gives Ss a paper with adjective. They walk around the class and find the opposite of the adjectives and write on their papers. They have 3 minutes. T gets them to check in pairs. Then gives FB by getting them to write the answers on the board. T shows some pictures and asks Ss to tell one adjective for that. T drills the adjectives and introduces syllables.

Reading for detail (3-5 minutes) • to expose the text for guided discovery

Ss will read a text about a girl who wants to buy a car and decide which car is better for her. T asks them to check in pairs. T gives FB.

controlled practice (guided discovery) (10-13 minutes) • to give Ss chance to learn comparative on their own

T gives them a paper and ask them to answer the questions by referring to model sentences and text. They read and answer the first question and check it in pairs. T gives FB in each part.

Freer practice (8-10 minutes) • To talk about the target language

T sticks some pictures of cars on the wall and tells Ss that here is a car gallery. You want to buy a car. Help each other to find a good car to buy. T monitors and gives them time to finish. Teacher gives FB and DEC.
