In The Dragons' Den
To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about The Dragons' Den
To provide fluency speaking practice through introducing new inventions
Procedure (32-43 minutes)
The teacher tells students that they are going to watch a video about a TV program and they need to guess what kind of TV programs it is.
The teacher will give students a hand out that has the key vocabulary for this paragraph asking them to match them with the correct meaning. (group work)
the teacher asks ss to read the paragraph within 2 minutes and find answers for the following questions : Who are the dragons? What's the meaning of "Den" ?
the teacher sets a task for students and they read the paragraph to find answers for this task that is ex.b page 80 and then check their answers in their groups and the whole class feedback after that.
Teacher ask students to work in pairs and discuss their opinions and decide on one product to invest if they were a dragon in this TV program.
The teacher regroup students by giving them different names of fruits and give them a handout , one for each group. There is a product on the hand out and students are to present it in front of their friends in the class. So they have to find many features of that invention they have and try to convince their classmates who are the dragons to invest this product.
