Description

In this lesson Ss will listen to an audio which is a scene from a book called "Behind the Scenes at the Museum" where they will learn different verbs to describe a fall. In the production stage, Ss will their experience with a fall.

Materials

Abc Audio
Abc HO listening questions
Abc Presentation software
Abc Cut- out answer keys.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of verbs that describe falling in the context of a scene from a book in an audio

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about falls in the context of scene from a book.

Procedure

lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set the context of the lesson and to get Ss engaged.

T will present a two photos of people falling to set the context Ss will discuss what the two photos are about. Ss will tell WC what they think

Gist reading. (3-4 minutes) • To give Ss a general idea of the listening.

T will ask Ss to listen and think the listening matches which picture. T will open the listening. T will give Ss time to check their thoughts together. Ss will discuss in pairs for a minute. T will ask WC for their ideas.

Reading for detail. (4-5 minutes) • So that Ss can understand the details of the listening

T will provide HO for Ss. T will ask Ss to read the events so they can put them in order. Ss will listen and put them in order. Ss will check in pairs. T will ask some Ss to put the answers on WB

Vocabulary checking activity (4-5 minutes) • To check the Ss knowledge of the main vocabulary

T will provide HO with a vocabulary exercise. Ss will work individually. Ss will then check in pairs. T will monitor Ss T will open audio if needed. Ss will put cut-out to put on WB in the right place. T will clarify meaning, form and pronunciation of the words she finds difficult to Ss from monitoring.

Productive skill (speaking ) (5-6 minutes) • To check the Ss understood the audio.

T will give Ss questions about the audio. Ss will read the questions and answer together. T will monitor. T will check with WC about their ideas.

Production (speaking) (9-10 minutes) • To give Ss more practice of the target language.

T will give Ss questions to answer (tell your partner about a fall you (or somebody you know) had. it could be and embarrassing experience or a more serious accident.) Ss will discuss in pairs. T will monitor. T will do WCFB. T will do delayed error correction.

If time allows activity (game) (5-6 minutes) • So that Ss practice the target language more.

T will play 'hot chair' with the students. Ss will sit in two groups. Ss will nominate a group member to sit on the chair in front of the group. T will write a word from the target language on WB. Ss on the chair has to guess the word without the other group members saying the word.
