Description

In this lesson T will revise the passive voice with Ss. They will read the audio text from the previous page, highlight the passive voice sentences, practice the meaning, pronunciation and form, and then produce sentences in a speaking activity using the passive voice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will link her lesson to the one before hers. T will remind Ss of the listening they did in the previous lesson.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Ss will provided with the script of the audio they heard. Ss will be asked to underline the sentences in passive voice. Ss will work alone first. T will monitor. Ss will then be asked to give T examples of the sentences they found.

Pronunciation clarification (2-3 minutes) • To review pronunciation with Ss.

T will pick some examples of the sentences Ss underline, she will write them on WB T will show Ss where the stress is on WB by marking it or highlighting it. T will drill and Ss will repeat.

Meaning and form Clarifying task (5-6 minutes) • To provide an opportunity for Ss to review the target language in a S centered activity.

This task is to review with Ss the form, meaning through an exercise she adapted. Ss will work individually on both parts. T will monitor. Ss will check in pairs T will correct with Ss parts that she saw needed attention. T will provide answer keys

Language Practice (gallery ) (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

T will provide Ss with HO that has different small text which they will have to change the sentences to passive voice. Ss will work individually T will monitor. Ss will check in pairs. for feedback T will have the answers on the walls of the classroom for Ss to see and check their answers.

Production (7-8 minutes) • To produce through speaking sentences with using the TL

T will write a question on the WB 'What happened to you last night?' T will talk about her imaginary last night where she uses most of her sentences in passive voice. T will ask Ss to do the same; to imagine the something bad happened the night before and they can use one of the texts in the previous activity to help them. Ss will do pair work. T will monitor. Then there will be WC feedback where some Ss will tell their story.

If time allows activity (game) (9-10 minutes) • for further practice of TL

T will provide Ss with cut out sentences The sentences will be gap-fill where Ss will fill in the passive form of the verb in brackets in groups of fours or threes. When they are done, a S from each group will ask another group the question and they have to answer. T will divide WB into four parts and the team that answers the Question wins a point
