Description

In this lesson students will learn about journey.They will start the lesson with a warm up activity.I' ll stick some pictures about famous places asking " Have you ever travel to any of these places?". Then they will answer the pre- reading question . After that they read the text and answer the questions ( While Reading 1) like (Why did the auther go travelling? , (While Reading 2) Are these statments true or false?.I' ll check the understanding of vocabulary through matching exercise .Finally ,they will talk about if go travelling can help escape from your problems?.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about Jouney.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a context of Journey.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Stick some pictures on the walls around the classroom about some famous places around the world asking(Have you ever travel to any of these places?). (If you go journey is it more enjoyable to you ?How?. -Ss will answer these questions . -Ask Ss (What is the most important place you want to visit? -Ask Ss to check in pairs sharing ideas with their partners -Get brief feedback from Ss.

Pre-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-Set Ex.1- page( ).Ss read and answer the question.(Have you ever travelled for any of these reasons?Discuss with a partner.) -Ss discuss with each other the reasons they have ever travelled for.(Make a list of other reasons that make you travel for.) -Monitor and help Ss if they need. -Get feedback from Ss.

While-Reading #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading task.

Ss erad the context first. -Ask Ss to read the question(Why the auther go travelling?) -First Ss work individually.Then ,they will check in pairs. Monitor and promote peer check. -Get feedback from the Ss.

While-Reading #2 (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading task

Ask Ss to read and answer the question (Are these statements true or false?) -First Ss work individually .Then ,they will check in pairs. -Monitor and promote peer check . -Get feedback from the Ss.

Post-Reading (2-3 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-Ask Ss question(Do you agree that travel can help you escape from your problem?) -First Ss work individually .Then, they will check in pairs. -Monitor and promote peer check. -Get feedback from the Ss.

Vocabulary Focus (3-5 minutes) • To learn the vocabulary in the context of reading of relationships.

Give Ss handouts and set the task . Ss match the words with their meanings. Ss drill the words.

Speaking (2-4 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned and to provide fluency speaking in the context of powerful speaking..

-Set Ex. 1,2 ,page( ). -Ss answer the questions (Make a list of diffrent places you have travelled to?) (Choose five places from your list and think about how to describe where they are.) -Ask Ss to discuss their answers with each other. -Monitor and give directions when needed. Get feedback from Ss.
