Description

In this lessons Ss will learn about the negative forms of past simple using didn't, wasn't, and weren't .Then they will be learning about how to form Yes or N o questions and to answer the short answers. This will be done through listening and some guided practices in the HO . Then there are some controlled and freer practices.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of negative , question forms , and short answers of past simple. in the context of films

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of negative , question forms , and short answers of past simple. in the context of films
  • To provide practice of listening to an interview using past simple .
  • To provide fluency speaking practice using past simple in a context of films.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T greets Ss -T asks Ss "Did you like the story of James Bond's life?,Did you watch James Bond's movies? , who can tell me what was his code number?"

Exposure/Highlighting (2-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation and draw students' attention to the target language

- T asks Ss" what tense was used in the text about James Bound?" Ss answer past simple. - T chests Ho includes past simple scentences and tells Ss to read the sentences and mark them true or false according to the previous reading text about James Bond. - T demonstrates and asks Ss ICQs, "How many sentences do you have?, will you write any thing or just mark true or false?Are you gonna work alone?" - Ss check in pairs and T check with the whole class.

Clarification (5-13 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- T asks Ss" what about the second sentence in HO is it true or false?" Ss : False. - T writes the example on board and asks," What do I need to make it true? , I'm looking for two words here to make it true, what are they?" Ss : was not (wasn't). - T asks CCQs , " Is it now or in the past?, what shows us the past here?, Is it positive"he was" or negative "wasn't?" - T gives Ss flash cards to show the word order and asks," how do we make the negative form here?, what is the word order here?" T demonstrates and asks ," What do you think you are gonna do ? Where are you gonna stick the paper?" - T asks , " Can I stick this card here- the card with we,you, they- ?, What if I put this card and write good students? which flash card matches this?, where is the past here?" -T what about the third sentence is it true or false? Ss: false. - T writes the example on board and asks ,"What do I need to make it true?I need three words here ."Ss:" did not study." - T asks CCQs,"Is it positive or negative?, Is it now or in the past?, What shows the past here?, Can I stick this card here-the card with we, you, and they- ?, Can I say didn't studied? -T chests the HO and asks Ss to complete the rule and demonstrates .check in pairs and FBK -T asks Ss to listen carefully to the track and repeat the sentences chorally the individually. then, Ss move on to EX 6.T gives instructions , demonstrates and asks ICQs. -T asks Ss " What if I want to ask about the second example?"Ss: "Did he study very much?" - T asks CCQs, "Is it now or in the past?, How do we know that it's in the past?, Can I say "did he studied?", Can I say "did they study?", what is the order here?, stick the flash cards." -T asks Ss to answer the question. -T drills chorally then individually.

Listening (13-18 minutes) • To provide further understanding of the grammar and make Ss listen to past simple questions form and make it easier to the students.

-T draws students' attention to the questions and asks Ss to listen carefully to questions of an interview with the writer Will Forbes who wrote a book about James Bond and Ian Fleming then complete the questions. - T asks ICQs, " Are you gonna write complete questions or just words?, Are you gonna answer any questions or just complete them?, Are you gonna work alone first?" - T plays the track and asks Ss if they want to listen one more time.Then ask them to check to gather.T gets FBK. -T ask them to listen again and check if "did" is stressed or unstressed in questions. -T asks Ss to finish the table of EX10. -T asks ICQs,"Are you gonna write any questions or just complete them?, Are you gonna answer them?"

Controlled Practice (18-25 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-T asks Ss to move on to Ex 11 and gives clear instructions. -T asks ICQs," Are you gonna arrange the sentences to make questions?, Are you gonna answer these questions or just arrange them?,Are you gonna work alone?" -T asks Ss to check the answers together then gets FBK.

Free Practice (25-30 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-T asks the Ss to take the paper ball , pass the ball to each other and ask and answer each other's questions. -T take notes of mistakes and delay FBK. -T tells Ss that he is going to write some sentences on board and Ss are gonna define the mistakes. -T gets FBK.
