  • To get them to think about world holidays, and which one they would like to celebrate the most.

  • To help them come up with what they think is their favourite holiday.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

As a group talk about 3 of Myanmars biggest holidays and what you do on them holidays and what they mean. This should take 10 minutes.

Exposure (25-30 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Put pictures out on the table that show different holidays and how they are celebrated, then ask the group to split into smaller groups and get them to try and work out where they are most popular and where celebrates them, and do they know they name of the holiday.

Useful Language (15-18 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Come back together as a group and discuss what each picture is and the countries they are celebrated in.
