Procedure (33-44 minutes)
-Greet the Ss -Display the charity shop photos -Ask Ss questions like: do you these are good shops? would you shop from them? What if I tell you that all clothes are second-hand? -Display the photos of clothing recycle bin and ask Ss questions like: do you know what is it? have you seen it in your city? -Display the photo of British Red Cross and tell students the idea behind it (they sell donated clothes in shops like this, and give the money to the charity) -Pair the students and instruct Ss to talk about the idea of donating clothes to charities. Do they have shops like this in their city? are they popular?Have you ever been in shops like this? what sort of things do they sell?
-Instruct the Ss to listen to the audio file 2.20 from SB page 98 (conversation between a woman who works in a charity shop and her husband) and do the activity 1(Listening) SB page 98 -Give the HO of the above activity -Play the audio file 2.20 -Instruct them to listen one more time to the audio file 2.20 and do the activity 2 from SB page 98 -Pair the Ss ,so they can compare their answers to the activity 1 & 2 from SB page 98 -Feedback
-Display the activity 3 from SB page 98 -Instruct the Ss the questions in the above activity in pairs
-Display the photo of Bill Gates -Ask if they know that Gates has a charity -Tell the Ss that he gave 25 billion dollar to his charity
-Instruct Ss to write a short paragraph about donation and charity. Advantages and disadvantages. If you are a billioner like Bill Gates, would you give your money to a charity? -The Ss will read their paragraph in pairs -Monitor the Ss, if any error encountered, do delay error correction
