The Ss will learn efficient reading practices with the help of jigsaw reading and some productive exercises while and after that. The speaking and writing tasks in the lesson will make Ss better understand the reading text.

Main Aims

  • To provide scan and detailed reading practice using a text about the secret millionaire in the context of millionaire

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of gap fills, marking in the context of millionaire
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a role play in the context of millionaire


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- To show the visuals of three rich people of the world and elicit the word 'millionaire'. 2- To discuss with Ss about what they will do first if they become a millionaire.

Pre-Reading (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1- To pre-teach meanings and pronunciation of four important words of the text. 2- To use pictures and give clues to make Ss better understand the words.

While-Reading #1 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

1- To instruct the Ss regarding the jigsaw reading task. 2- To distribute the different text to different groups (A & B). 3- To give them another HO (scan reading task)- different for both groups and let Ss do exercise. 4- To call students on board for answers and correct them if they are wrong.

While-Reading #2 (12-14 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

1- To make them get in pairs (one from the group A and the other from group B) 2- To let them share the important points and summary of their text with each other. 3- To let them do exercise 3 and then exercise 4 together. 4- To disclose the answers through slips attached below their chairs. 5- To do corrections and give FB.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

1- To give instructions and distribute the HOs (Ss will mark the things Colin has) 2- To have them do the activity. 3- To check answers with the help of OHP. 4- To have them talk (Role Play) In the role play, both the partners will act as millionaires and will ask and tell each other as to what they wish to buy from the given HO and why? 5- Conclude the lesson after doing delayed error correction and FB.
