Description

in this lesson students well read about past time expressions, in a reading context of Erich Lejeune's biography. There will be a gap filling information practise in which they will read for specific information.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of past time expressions, in the context of biography "how to be a millionaire".

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about how to be a millionaire in the context of biography.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll start may lesson with a warming discussion about how to be a millionaire. Try to engage the students in a speaking practise.

Reading. gap-filling (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll give the students a gap-fill hand out. I'll tell the students that they will be a pair, I'll A and all of them will be B. Then I'll ask the to ask me the question in their hand out and then I'll answer. then I'll tell it's my turn to ask the question and they need to answer. after repeating this proses for 3 or 4 questions, then I'll divide into pairs. and ask them to start the exercise.

Grammar: past time exorissions. (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I'll draw time lines and I'll try to elicit the grammar from the students.

Grammar exercise. (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I'll hand the students a hand out and ask them to work in pairs. After they are done I'll ask them to check the answers in the white board.

Exercise 3 (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I'll give the students a hand out with the whole story, then I'll ask them to re-read it, then work in pairs and fill the gaps(hand out).
