Description

In this lesson, ss will have a listening activity, a survey and some photos about the Do It Yourself topic and finally they will generate their ideas about DIY through TBL. The lesson stars with a discussion about their Q:skills Online website to encourage them to be more autonomous. This is followed by some photos and having a discussion about the photos in 2-3 groups. Then the questions in the book will be discussed and the listening part will be done. Finally, there is a survey with some discussions which will be done in the book. DIY projects will be given as an assignment to the students to do for the following week.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in the topic

T asks Ss to give their FB about the online materials which they were asked to do at home. T projects a photo on the smartboard and ask Ss to think about the meaning of photos. Ss share their ideas with their partners. T takes some FB

Exposure (8-9 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through discussions

Ss are given P112 and they are asked to discuss the questions in the group of three. After finishing their discussion, they will share their ideas with other groups. T gets some FB from weak Ss in the class.

Useful Language (5-6 minutes) • To listen for specific and detailed information for coming productive tasks

Ss are asked to read the ideas in the box. Ss listen to the recording and match the ideas with the students in the chart. Ss check the answers in their pair. One student takes the FB and writes the answers on the board.

Productive Task(s) (9-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss are asked to do the survey in their books. Ss compare their answers and discuss their answers for the questions. Ss are put in 2 groups and they discuss their answers. T takes some FB by asking some ss to share their group's ideas.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-4 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The wrong sentences are put on the board and Ss are aked to correct them in their pairs. For each sentence, one student comes to the board and corrects the mistake. T takes whole class FB.

Homework (2-3 minutes) • To engage students to study English out of the class

Ss should brainstorm 10 DIY projects they want to try. They choose minimum one project and they prepare a presentation for a minute for the following week. T asks some ICQs
