Procedure

Pre-Reading (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Teacher - asks how long it takes each student to come to IT and makes a line with (student with the longest time at one end and the shortest at the other end of the line) - divides the class in three groups; groups stay in circles. - tells the rules of the game which are: Every group has a turn and at each turn, groups have 15 seconds to brainstorm what the vocabulary shown on the power point slide is. Each group must brainstorm and give the answer at the end of 15 seconds. - shows the picture and gives the turn to group 1, first. If group 1 cannot find it then it is the next group’s turn. Each group gets 1 point for every vocabulary known. - tells the ss to take a seat after the 6th vocabulary and elicits the remaining 3 slides from the whole class.

While-Reading #1 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

- Gives the instructions for the reading (Read and put the appropriate heading on the related paragraph) - Tells the ss to check their answers with their group members - Distributes the answer key (1 answer key per each group)

While-Reading/ #2 (7-9 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

- Gives the true/false questions on the reading - Tells the ss to check their answers with their group members - Distributes the answer key (1 answer key per each group)

Post-Reading/Writing (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- Gives the instructions for the handout and then distributes the H/O as a writing practice. The writing task: - Every person in the group picks one heading and writes a paragraph (no more than 20 words/each) about their own experience. - One person from each group brings together the paragraphs of the group members - The group makes the necessary corrections to all the paragraphs. - One person gives the group paragraphs to the teacher.

Speaking / Freer Practice (8-10 minutes) • To expand on what they've learned with a freer practice

- forms pw - gives the instructions for the speaking and distributes the handout that gives the instructions for the speaking task - Looks over the paragraphs for error correction and writes on the w/b some mıstakes she has seen; while ss are in the thinking phase of what they will be talking with their partner. - Monitors the ss for taking notes for error correction - Does the delayed error correction of both writing and speaking practices on the wb.
