Elementary, beginners level
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of life and family.
To provide product writing practice of a paragraph in the context of life and family.
Procedure (36-45 minutes)
I will introduce the context of the lesson with background information about myself in the context of life and family. I will try and elicit the details from the class. Will use 4 images via data projector and Celtic top and scarf as props. Will use timeline to help explain life history. Mins 3-5
The students will be introduced to Marlene through 5 images of her growing up. Demo 1 minute: Handout images and ask students to describe the images. PW : 3 mins. Feedback whole class: 2 mins: The students will then listen to audio related to each picture and match the extract to picture. Individual: 5 mins : Feedback : 2 mins.
Introduction of the useful language. Have the students elicit the meaning of the phrases. 4 mins : Give handout of language. Show new vocabulary on whiteboard, drill. 2 mins : W/C
Ask the students to create an autobiography, I will provide a model from which the students can work from. Demo the model 1 min. Handout a copy to each student. Students spend 10 mins creating biography. Students then post their biographies on wall and go round the class reading their peers' biographies and guess who they belong to. 3 mins. Do error correction while monitoring the students.
Ask students to talk about a family member, sister, brother, wife, husband. Demo 1 min: PW 5 mins
