in this lesson students will be learning about some useful polite phrases that they can use in their daily life , the lesson will start by them looking at two situations and they will guess which one is impolite and which is polite, then they will listen to an audio of two conversations and notice the polite form then a few exercises both controlled and free

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about polite and impolite speech in the context of resturant
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of resturant manners

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show ss an illustration of two scence in a restaurant and ask them to notice the diffrence between the two

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

ss will listen to 2 conversations and guess which one is the polite and impolite

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

ss will listen to the main useful phrases of the conversation and repeat in a group

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will repeat every phrase one more time and let them repeat individually after her then writes it on the board. and clarify the meaning the form and the pronunciation on the board

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

ss will fill in the gabs of the coversation with the previous useful phrases and check in pairs then listen to the audio again to check

Semi-Controlled Practice (2-3 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

ss will practice the same coversation taking turns

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

ss will roleplay as the waiter, man and women in a restaurant of their choice and food and drinks and have a free act play
