Description

In this lesson Ss will learn about unusual food. I'll start my lesson with warm up .I will show them some pictures of strange kind of food from around the world and ask them some questions about this food.Then they will answer some questions in the pre-listening stage to prepare them for listening.They will listen and answer some questions in the stage of while listening like true or false and fill the table with suitable words.I will check understanding of vocabulary by matching exercise.Finally, they will talk about their experiences with strange food in post reading stage.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show Ss some pictures of insects " strange food" Ask Ss, "What can you see?" , "Have you ever eaten any of these things?" Ss answer these questions . Ask Ss, "Is this normal food or unusual food?" and ask Ss to guess "Where is it eaten?" Ask Ss "Do you know other kinds of strange food?" Elicit from Ss more kinds of strange food. Ask Ss to discuss these questions in peers. Get feedback from Ss.

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening and make it more accessible

Set Ex.1 , P.43 Ask Ss to look at the pictures of different things that people eat around the world . Ask Ss to discuss with a partner ,"What do they taste like?" monitor and help if they need. Get feedback from Ss.

While-Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening task

Step1: Set listening track CD.2 ,track 3.Ex.2, P.43 Ss listen to an interview with somebody who has tried all these things. Ask Ss to match each dish (a-f) with the adjectives (1-6) he uses to describe them. Ss work individually then check answers together. Monitor and help if they need. T checks answers with whole class. Step2: Ask Ss to listen again and tick true or false and correct false sentences. Ss work individually then check in peers. Monitor and help if they need. Check answers with WC. check answers with WC

While-Listening #2 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks in the context of unusual food.

Step1: Ask Ss to Add words to the table from listening Ex.2. Ss read the words in the table to add to them. Ss listen again and fill the table. Ss work individually then check in groups. Monitor and then check with WC. Step2: Ask Ss To work with a partner .Take it in turns to describe one of the items of food in the box for your partener to guess what is it. Give them an example. Monitor and help if they need. Get feed back from Ss.

Vocabulary focus (3-5 minutes) • To learn the vocabulary in the context of listening in the context of edible

Give Ss handouts. Divide Ss into two groups to set a challenge and provide excitement. Ss match the words with their meanings. The first team to finish will be the winner. Early finishers write the answers on the board. Check with WC if there any mistakes

Post-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned.To provide fluency speaking in the context of edible.

Set Ex.3,P.43 Ask Ss to work with a partner and answer these questions . "Have you ever tried any of the dishes he talks about? and What is the most unusual thing you have ever eaten? Ss describe to his partner what are the best and the worst meals you've ever had? Ask Ss "Do you know other kinds of strange food?","What are they and Where?" Monitor and give directions when needed.
