Description

In the is lesson, Ss review the vocabulary in the context of seasons and dates and they will learn about prepositions of time:on, in, at.The lesson starts with showing Ss pictures about the season and a discussion about the months of each season. Then, Ss will learn how to write months and dates correctly, This is followed by a speaking activity about the important dates in Egypt. Then, Ss will answer a fill gaps activity to know about in, on, at. Finally, Ss will have a freer practice to use the prepositions in time by writing complete sentences that include them.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show Ss a picture of the four seasons and ask them "what is this picture about?" Ask Ss " what are the four seasons?". Clarify the names of the seasons. Clarify the difference between autumn and fall. ask students "what are the months of each season?" ask students to work in pairs to answer the question. Get the FB from Ss.

Vocabulary Focus (4-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify the target language

Ask Ss to choose the correct sentence" here are two sentences,one is wrong and one is correct, choose the correct one and why did you choose it?". Tell Ss that they have only two minutes to answer the question. Ask Ss to check in pairs the answer. Ask Ss which sentence did they choose and discuss why. Elicit from Ss the rule that the months should be written with a capital letter at the beginning of it.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ask Ss to complete the months with a capital letter and give them two minutes to finish it. Ask Ss to check in pairs. Give Ss the answer in a printed paper and ask them to check if their answers are correct or not. Tell Ss that they are going to listen to a track and ask them to listen and repeat "please listen and repeat".

Free Practice (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask Ss To work in groups. Ask each student to ask his\her partners about in which season did they born. Ask Ss "are you going to speak or write?" Give them Two minutes for this activity.

Vocabulary Focus (7-9 minutes) • To highlight and clarify the target language

Ask Ss to read the exercise carefully and to fill the gaps. Give them only two minutes to answer it. Ask Ss how much time do you have to answer the question. Demonstrate with them by asking them by pointing at 7th and ask them about the answer. Ask Ss to check in pairs. Give them a printed paper and ask them to check their answers. Ask Ss to read the calendar again and answer the question: "would you read it again and fill the gaps with the right answer from the box?". Ask Ss to check in pairs. Give them a printed paper with the right answer and ask them to check their answers: would you check your answers please?".

Semi controlled (3-5 minutes) • To provide practice and concept check of the TL and prepare Ss for freer activity.

Ask Ss to read the table first. Ask Ss "are you going to read and and answer?". Ask Ss to complete the table. Read the first date "the first of January" as an example. Demonstrate with them "the fourteenth of February". Ask them to complete the whole table. Ask them to check in pairs. Give them a printed paper with the right answer and ask them to check their answers. Ask them to listen to the track and repeat.

Freer practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask Ss to read the questions" would you read these three questions" Ask Ss to work in pairs. Demonstrate with a student. Ask him\her why 14th February is important? Give Ss four minutes to answer the questions. Ask Ss" how much time do you have to answer the questions?".

Test (2-4 minutes) • To check students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ask Ss to complete the sentence with in,on or at. Ask Ss to check in pairs. Give them only two minutes Ask students to listen to a track and check their answers Asl Ss to listen again and repeat

Teach • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Ask Ss to answer the activity: "match in,at and on with the correct answer?" Give them only one minute. Ask them how much time do you have to answer the questtion. Ask Ss to check in pairs. Get FB from WC.

Test (1-2 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Ask Ss to read the sentences and fill the gaps with the in, at or on Ask them to check in pairs Check answer with the whole class.

Freer practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide practice and concept check of the TL and prepare Ss for freer activity.

Ask Ss to read the sentences in the last task again" now, I want you to read the sentences again" Ask them to write full sentences like these sentences to describe their daily routine. Give them two minutes and ask them how much time do you have to answer. Ask Ss to check in pairs.
