Materials

Abc World map
Abc sticky notes

Main Aims

  • For students to feel comfortable with talking about travel in English

Subsidiary Aims

  • To make sure the lesson is fun and engaging for the students.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To get students thinking about where they would like to travel to.

Get them into groups of 3 or 4, tell them they have 2 minutes to name as many countries as they can. Each group will use a whiteboard to do this. At the end we will count to see who could name the most countries.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To see if they know the continents

Talk about all the different continents and see if they can say what continent the countries they wrote down are from. Put a picture of the world map on the table and get them all to write their initials on a sticky note, and place it on the country they would most like to visit.

Productive task (20-25 minutes) • To get them to put the country they want to go to on the map.

To put a picture of the world map on the table and get them to write their initials on a sticky note and get them to place it on the map to where they would most like to go. Once they have placed on where they would like to go they need to try and explain why and do they think they will go there one day. ICQ's - What are we going to do?

Conclusion (8-10 minutes) • To see if they can remember where someone in the group wants to go and why.

Get them to say the name of someone else in the group, and get them to say where that person wants to go and why they want to go there.
