Description

In this lesson Ss will practice two skills: (reading & writing). For the reading they will practice (reading for detail) skill by completing a text with correct information. For the writing they will practice writing a paragraph about their perfect weekend then they will compare their paragraphs with partners.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about perfect weekend
  • To provide gist and scan reading practice
  • Focus on punctuation in writing the paragraph.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice about organizing a weekend in the context of a perfect weekend
  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll write the sentence "My perfect weekend" on the board and tell Ss about their weekend. I will use pictures from my weekend as well to make it more personally based rather than abstract. Then I'll ask Ss to talk about their perfect weekend.

Pre-Reading (6-9 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll teach vocabulary that the Ss will see in the text. I'll reflect some pictures on the board "Ms Dynamite" a British hip hop musician and her weekend plan' and define some other words, "Thai food, Vodka, RedBull and other words that As doesn't know. After that Ss will read the text and figure out Ms Dynamite's perfect weekend on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

While-Reading (10-20 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

1- I'll clarify the instructions and make them simple. 2- I'll let Ss read the text, skim the informations and then fill the gaps individually. 3- I'll monitor the Ss to see if there any problems or difficulties. 4- Instruction Checking Questions; * Are we going to read or listen ?

Post-Reading (20-30 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

1- Ss will listen to a track (1.70) to check their answers and the feedback. 2- I will let Ss to change the information in Exercise 1 to make it a perfect weekend for them. 3- let Ss to write a paragraph about their perfect weekend by using the information from Ex.2 4- Ss will check their paragraphs in pair work to see if they have common activities or different one.
