Description

In this lesson, students read a text about the famous film character of James Bond. they get two different types of tasks. the first one is for gist(quick reading or looking through the whole text). the second is for specific detail.

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of types of films

Procedure (45-55 minutes)

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks ss few general questions about films they have watched recently and build other few questions on.

Pre-Reading (exposure) (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T sets the context of the lesson through playing a famous track heard at the beginning of James Bond`s films to brainstorm ss and shows them a photo of different actors impersonating James Bond character in many films, asking ss some relevant questions.

While-Reading1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T assigns a reading task to ss for gist. he asks them to work individually and give them a sheet with a question for gist. t asks them to check in pairs after they finish.

While-Reading 2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T assigns ss another reading task. this time it will be for specific information. they will be given a sheet in which ss find some questions (scanning) and then let them check in pairs before he shows the answer on the board.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T sets ss into two groups, gives them different cards on the back of which they will find questions about films. they ask and answer each other among the group.
