Description

In this lesson we will focus on future forms through be going to +infinitive and the present continuous or will. We will do this by looking at language used in the previous lesson.

Abc Gap fill H/O
Abc Shown on W/B gapped sentences

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of future tenses using be going to+infinitive,present continuous or will in the context of vocabulary used in the first lesson.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy when speaking.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students into the lesson

w/b place sample sentences from p 31 Q 1 grammar. Ss read the sentences Ss will play hangman in order to elicit the words plans and intentions. Ask Ss to read text again then answer CCQ's given by T

preparation 1 through controlled practice (6-8 minutes) • To focus and check understanding of the future forms.

On w/b place the 3 future rules and sentences from previous stage. H/O will be given Ss read through text on H/O P/W discuss future rules and fill in the blanks Ss pick from the rules and match to the correct sentence. Nominated Ss will come to W/B to match rules.

Preperation (5-7 minutes) • To prepare Ss for next stage of lesson

Examples of contractions up on the board ask Ss to match them to the appropriate sentences. Drill sentences using both forms

controlled practice (9-11 minutes) • To practice and complete sentences using the correct future form

Ss will be divided into two groups. Ss will look at future form sentences on the board Ss working in pairs inside their group will relay race to fill in the correct future form of the verb shown in brackets. To check answers T will read the text out aloud Ss will have an opportunity to swap their answers around.

semi controlled practice (6-7 minutes) • To provide a semi controlled practice using the target language

give Ss H/O of unfinished sentences. Give Ss one example of how a sentence may be completed. Ss complete three sentences of their choice using their own ideas. P/W Ss will tell eachother about their sentences.

Round up (if time allows) (3-5 minutes) • To enable Ss to practice using the future forms when speaking

Ss will imagine that they are going into the dessert for 3 days. P/W Ss will decide which 3 items written on W/B (sun glasses,hat,mobile phone etc) that they will take with them. Ss will work with another pair and explain what and why they have chosen these items.
