The main of this lesson is to make the learners practice their speaking skills in the contexts of films, music and books. They will also listen seven short dialogues abour these three contexts and they will be introduced with new vocabulary about the contexts..

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency to the students in the context of different film types

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of particular vocabulary in the lexical set of movies, books and music


Lead in / Preparing to speak (10-12 minutes) • To generate interest in the topic of the lesson

T will show three pictures to elicit the words that are the context of the lesson. Since eliciting the words such as film(movie), music and book this part won't take too long. Then t will ask random questions individiually about the context to activate ss' existing knowladge of the topic. As the main aim of the lesson is speaking, the lesson will start with a speaking activity which is find someone who.. The ss will be asked to mingle to find a person that is interested in one of the topics on the handout that will be provided by teacher. In the end t will ask individually for feedback.

Useful Language (10-15 minutes) • To provide language which learners may find useful for completing the speaking task

This stage will actually have three different parts. First part will be listening. The ss will listen seven different short dialogues and they will be asked to decide if they are about music, films or books. Ss will be asked to take notes of the key words from the dialogues that helped them to understand the content. Feedbacks will be with whole class In the second part, t will provide the ss with a table that is divided into three parts(music,film,books) and the ss will be asked to fill the table with the words that are given with the handout. The ss will be asked to check their answers with their peers. Then the answers will be checked with whole class and if there is a word that the ss struggle, t will explain its meaning. The last part of this stage will be listening skill again. The ss will listen different soundtracks and they will try to guess the genre of the film. T will give them a handout so that the ss don't have to think about the genre by themselves. They will be expected to match the soundtracks with the movie types. Again the feedbacks will be practised by whole class by asking individually.

Speaking Task 1 (8-10 minutes) • For learners to practice their oral fluency

The students will pick their favorite type of films according to the last exercise that is practised in the previous stage. They will choose some films among the categories and tell them to their friends in the groups

Speaking Task 2 (10-12 minutes) • For learners to practice their oral fluency

First, T will change the groups and then the ss will pick two or three different types of movies to tell thier friends in the groups. They will try to explain the movie whose type is assigned by the t and the others will be expected to find the title. Every student will practice it at least two times

Error Correction on Oral Task (3-5 minutes) • To provide language feedback based on the task

T will take notes while monitoring during the speaking tasks. If there is a major problem that should be corrected, t will explain it by writing on the WB.
