Ss will learn about prepositions of place and using them to describe where things are.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of prepositions of place in the context of 'My Living Room'

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of 'My Living Room'


Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Pre-class - T will put up two photos to introduce the context and engage the Ss. T will chest each photo and and have Ss make assumptions. While chesting the photos T will ask the Ss which furniture they see.

Pre-Listening (2-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the udio and make it accessible

"Were going to listen to Lea and Mary talk about Leo's things in the living room. We'll listen once and guess whose room these are." ICQ !! "How many times will we listen?" -Once Ss will hear an audio and guess the owner of each room from the photos in the Warmer.

While-Listening #1 (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Matching T will post photos on WB before the listening task. Ss will match sentences with the words written on the board (Fill in the Blanks). SS will listen twice ICQ !! How many times are we listening? -2 (Two) On | Floor | Behind | Door | Under | Desk | In Front Of | TV | Next To | Door (Change order)

Clarification (9-10 minutes) • To clarify meaning, pronunciation and form so Ss understand, know how to say TL and can construct it

"Does anybody remeber where Leo's headphones were?" T holds up headphones. T will place headphones in, on, under, next to, in front of, behind, near and far from the box while writing the prepositions after every elicit. T will Check with Hand Gestures

Post-Reading/Listening (18-20 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T will hand out the furniture photos and Ss will place them the way the T explains. Part 1: The Coffee Table is the middle of the room. The Blue Couch and Red Couch are behind the Coffee Table The Plant is between the Couches The bookshelf is next to the Coffee Table The TV is in front of the Coffee Table. The books are on the coffee table and under the Blue Couch. Part 2: There is an old tv in the back of the room. The black couch is in front of the old tv. The Blue Couch is next to the black couch. The coffee table is between the old tv and the couches. The book shelf is behind the couches. The plant is next to the black couch. The books are under the coffee table. There will be 2 (Two) Rounds. When finished Ss will make their own living rooms and describe them to each other. They will try to make what the other Ss explain.
