Description

In this lesson, student learn about the present simple of the 3rd person singular of the personal pronouns. We will discuss the positive and negative form of the simple present. I will also highlight some more examples of the other personal pronouns (1st sing, 2nd, 3rd plural) to make a comparison between the 3rd person singular when using the simple present. The lesson will start with the follow up of the dialogue of Ms. Alison, which will be presented by my colleague in the previous lesson. Student will complete the missing rules of the grammar and some target practices. They will also do a listening and speaking practice to have some more clarification of the verb form of the simple present.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, student will be better able to better understand the present simple in the positive and negative form when using the 3rd person singular in the context of Daily Routines

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of the simple present.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will put a image on the W/B and perform a gesture to elicit the affirmative and the negative form of the simple present.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare Ss to identity when do we use doesn't and don't in the simple present

T will use the projector to present some sentence example from the Alison dialogue to introduce the rules of the present simple in the positive and negative form (he,she,it). T will provide student with some sentence to read and underline the right answer of the negative form. Check it pairs to compare the right answer before T do some drilling.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • Worksheet task of the S-ending verb form and pronunciation

T will hand out a worksheet for student to complete the verb form of the worksheet. Check it pairs to compare the right answer before T do some drilling. After completing this task, student will compare answers in group. after completing the answers, t will play audio 4.3 for the listening of pronunciation. T will use the projector to present the rules of the S-ending and spelling for clarification.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ss will read and complete in group Alison's dialogue, and fill the gaps with the correct form of the verbs in brackets. T will do CCQs for clarification and choral drilling.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ss will listening and practice the consonant-vowel linking in the Audio 4.4 Choral Drilling and Feedback.
