Description

The Ss. will begin by using a photo to make up a story about a family. Followed by a gap fill that focus on the new language i.e. Grandparents. Then they will learn about possessive adj. for family.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show the S the photo from the worksheet and ask them questions in an attempt to elicit the word grandparent. After Elciting the word post the Stress pattern and Drill the words Grandparent Grandmother Grandfather Grandson Granddaughter Alternate Eliciting: [Gap Fill] and mini- family tree. Board the following Family words _o_ son _u_ mum _i_ _ e_ sister _a_ dad _ _ o_ _e_ brother

Pre-Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Script: How many people have a family? Pause for joke. Ok, we all have family but who is in your family. T will write any relevent answers on board until he get mother, father, sister bother, son daughter. Then T will give out the handout. Script: How do you think the people in photo 1 are related? I will give you one minute. Script: When the son or daughter gets older what are somethings he will do. T Elicit until you get the word marry or have a baby. Script: Now if the children get older and marry will their parents be the new child's father and mother? (No) What do we call them?(grandparents) T draw a picture on the board of a man and a woman and then draws a picture with a line and two more.

While Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening

T will show SS the picture of the Sid and Mary and then Board. Script: How are the people on the back related to the people on the front? T will show both pictures again before giving them to the class. Listen to check Script: I would like you to do 8a. Who do they talk about and in what order.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Script: Now we will do Excercise 8 b and I will play it for you twice. FB with students be giving them Answer key and letting them self correct. Script: (Random) Do any of you have pets? i.e Birds, Elict until you get dog. Board "I love my dog." "My dog ate an egg. CCQ Who ate the egg? (Dog) Who does is it? (Your Dog) How do we know? (The word my). This is what possessive adjectives do, the help us show who noun it is. I love my dog . Who is I? Point to I. (They point to me) I is a pronoun. Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Script Now we are going to introduce people to our family using pictures. T will bring out little yellow books titled photo album and show a SS hand drawn pictures of my family. Script : Page 1 This is my mother. Her name is Cora. This is My father. His name is Sam. Now draw a picture of your family. Take 3 minutes Script Now tell your partner about your family.
