Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

using a flash card of john lennon i start asking students what they know about him and his job and also about his songs

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

provide a matching exercise with some of the song's lyrics and their definitions i ask students to match each word to the correct definition check answers in pairs and then provide feedback

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

ask students to listen to the song in order to answer some questions about the meaning of the songs and the time in which this sog was produced and the reason for it

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

provide the students with a handout of the lyrics with some gaps in it ask them to listen again to the song in order to fill in the gaps in the lyrics check their answers in pairs and then provide feedback

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

ask the students to work in pairs and discuss about the meaning of the song and also discuss about the type of life they want to have and imagine a world without wars , hunger , poverty monitor students and then provide feedback
