Description

In this lessons, students will learn about vocabulary words and collocation about "Looks". The lesson starts with the meaning of "Looks like" and discover the relation between the people in the picture . After that T. will teach them the new words about "Looks", Then students will complete the exercise to describe these people. At last they will describe themselves or other people in the room.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of looks lexis and review of family member names in the context of Looks

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion in the context of look

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Put some flash cards on the board Ask the students" Who is this person?" Ask the students to describe their shape or looks "How does he or she looks like?" Preteach some vocabulary by flash cards: "Straight hair, Curly hair, Shaved head"

Test #1 (5-7 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ask the students to look at the photos on p72 Tell the students that each one in the top row is related to one of the people in the bottom row and they have to guessthese relationships. Look at the example. Ask them if they think Will looks like Sue. Illustrate that "Look like " is different from "Like" Ask the students to complete Exercise 1 Check in Pairs Play the recording and let them Check their answers Give you feed back.

Teach (4-6 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Look with the class to the list of description with the class. Explain the vocabulary to the students with Flash cards. Drill the new words with the students

Test #2 (5-8 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Ask the students to complete the descriptions with the name of the people in the photos of Exercise 1. Let them ckeck in pairs. Play the recording for them to Listen and check. Give them feedback. Play the recording again for them to listen and repeat.

Free practice (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Play the quiz "Who is he?" Ask one of the students to come in front of the class and describe some one who is sitting on the room or some one who is very famous. Ask each student to play the game one by one. The winner is the one who guessed as many answers as possible.

IF-Time activity • To provide students with free practice for their target language

Ask the students to sit in pairs and ask each one to describe his best friend to his partner and change roles when they finish.
