Description

In this lesson , Ss learn about food generally , healthy or unhealthy , contains vitamin or protein , calories ...etc particularly . Ss will get some new information about food, healthy ideas and also a new vocabulary through reading the passages or answering questions .

Main Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about food facts and myths in the context of eating and drinking

Subsidiary Aims

  • Ss will take some exercises which will make them try to collect all old information in their mind also guess to get the answers related to food's facts , myths , benefits and it's harm .
  • Make Ss have attention to food in the side of " it is healthy or not " by focus on it's nutritional value , like vitamins or calories or protein... etc

Procedure

Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show the students a video with a duration which is about 2 minutes , this video is related to food's facts . 1) T tells Ss to divide themselves into two groups at least . 2) It is required to every group to watching carefully the video , then takes the facts involved into the video as notes , "there are 12 facts " . 3) The big numbers of notes taken by a group makes that group is the winner . 4) T will advice Ss to divide themselves in taking notes , like the first one in the group write the first note , then second write the second , that is to save time and try to collect much more as they can .

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1) T will give every S in the group a paper which contains EX :1 a " match" where there is some words and pics . 2) Ss firstly answer individually , then check with their partners in the same group . T will check answers with them . 3) T gives them a paper contain EX . 1 b , they work individually then check with their partner , T check with them answers after finishing . 4) T gives EX. 3 a to Ss , ask them to first write "True " or "False " besides every statement , then check with themselves in the group finally , all groups check with themselves and finally tell T what is your agreement points , what isn't .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

1)T asks Ss to read text quickly then answer EX: 3 b working in a group . 2)T check right answers of EX:3 b with Ss . 3)T give Ss EX: 4 to answer in a group 4) T discuss with Ss about EX: 4

While-Reading/Listening #2 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

5) T ask Ss about some words shown in text and tell them about it's right meaning and pronunciation .

Post-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T will ask Ss what are your favorite foods ? & what foods don't they like ?, whatever related to breakfast or launch or dinner ,also whatever habit is healthy or not , Ss work individually. T asks if anyone wants to talk about his answers .
